5.Knocking on The Door
Anyone who wishes to enter a great house should attempt to be virtuous and worthy to stand at the door of the one who owns the house. They must be worthy of receiving the owner’s kindness. We did this before deciding to enter the house of the beloved almighty. O dear reader, if you seek to comprehend grace, you should enter the divine garden in the same manner. If you long to enter a house, you are obligated to knock on the door, by sounding the door knocker, knocking gently on the door, or pressing the bell. What is the point in doing so?
The object is to inform the owner of your presence, to say “I am here. I long to see you, and I have prepared myself for this visit and have a wish. I am informing you of my presence and of my preparation to take in your generosity.” This quote provides the meaning behind knocking on the door.
The one who knocks on a door and declares one’s preparedness to the owner yearns to say that I find myself worthy of your generosity and count myself qualified for receiving what I came for. So, open the door before me, gratify my need, and grant me what is destined for me. For what I have desperately yearned.
