One Who Does Not Have the Right Ethics
Those who are far from the blessing of religion, are divided into two categories: The first kind are those who are illiterate, they are not attentive and possess no knowledge to acquire the truths of religion. They are those who blindly believe whatever others tell them. One who does not know has no faith and religion as well since he did not acquire his religion based on his intellect, will and contemplation. This sort of faith is fragile, and such a person always seeks others to see and hear what they say, and which paths they show. For this reason, he is perplexed in search of the path1, and every day he follows different people. Such people are as the Sire of all virtuous, Ali (Praise be upon him) denotes, are like houseflies in summer, flying together in the wind, changing their position when the wind changes.
In the Book of “Dhammapada,” it is said: “One who has not learned anything is but a foddered cow. His body will grow on meat, but his knowledge will not.”
In the book of “Xiaojing” (Classic of Filial Piety), from Confucianism, it is said that: “A wise man who does not contemplate will fall into foolishness, and an ignorant man reaches the path towards intellect by contemplation.”
