Turning a Blind Eye to the Flaws of Others

The Flowers Of Guidance Volume One Judging Your Own Actions

As we are not skillful and authoritative enough to be aware of the flaws and slips of others, it is better to turn a blind eye towards them altogether. Consider this also: the same flaws they may have, we may have as well.

This notion is the manner of a righteous and godly man. If someone sees flaws in others, he should forgive those shortcomings if possible and always accept their apologies and forgive them.

Those who turn blind eyes to the flaws and defects of others and those who solely consider and examine their behavior and actions are the people who possess a good conscience, courage, faith, justice, and honor. Such individuals are the judges of their deeds. When a court judge is responsible for focusing on an individual’s past deeds and actions, he should consider and investigate all actions and records of that individual so that he could reach an informed and accurate verdict.
