Consistency and Perseverance

The Flowers Of Guidance Volume One The Serenity of Spirit and Gratification
When a car is trapped in heavy snow, only the man who has the force of consistency, stability, endurance and right action, will succeed in rescue. The human is like this as well: when he is entangled with plights and difficulties, he should seek the force of sustainability and endure.

The other trait is perseverance, meaning that the individual has consistency and endurance on his journey to the objective. Perseverance is a branch of patience. Many in this world travel together on the same path, but some always fall behind along the way. Some drag along, some have more endurance, some even more so, some have greater perseverance but not enough to finish. Just like the others, they will grow weary and settle as well. Finally, among the many passengers who stayed behind, one by one, only those who have pure perseverance and have more consistency in their resolution will acquire the desired result and will reach their goals.

Endurance is a fundamental and essential factor in reaching the objectives. No result will emerge unless there are consistency and endurance. Almighty God denotes the great Prophet of Islam (May Allah bless him and his family) in the Surah Hud to “persevere on a right course as we have commanded” (Hud, Verse 112). The great Prophet noted: “Surah Hud made me old.” What he intended was this act of endurance, which is the hardest, yet most decisive way, to obtain results.
