Dividing Duties

The Flowers Of Guidance Volume One The Path to Prosperity among People
Every single human being is responsible for the job and the task designated to him. Here we see a factory where everyone carries out his task the best way possible, knowing that if he does not perform his duties, the company will suffer consequences.

As we can see, there are different duties for human beings. Some are entrepreneurs, others are craftsmen and tradesmen, office and institution clerks, some are artisans, some are artists, some are laborers and proletarians and manual workers, some are professional specialists, and some are authors and poets. In short, all these jobs that exist within a society are carried out by the very same human beings. Now we are going to discuss the role of leaders and prophets despite the existence of destiny.

A human who has set off traveling toward his destination (his destiny) may find he is faced with multiple paths. Prophets and spiritual leaders with kindness and affection offer the best, the shortest, and the most effortless path to assist him on the journey to his designated destiny. This path is carved in memory and establishes the foundation of exercise, which is also a part of destiny to reach enlightenment. Through perseverance and consistency, traversing this path becomes more effortless so that he can reach the destination of his fate.

For example, consider a person who yearns to travel to Mashhad1. It is in his destiny to get to this city. Now, if he finds someone to show him the way, and if he listens, practices and carries out the exercises, he is sure to reach his destination through the best and easiest way. However, if there is no leader or if he fails to listen to the leader, he will traverse the path regardless, though with hardship and possible loss. Therefore, listening and adhering to the remarks of the prophets will bring felicity.

Conversely, not listening to them is a form of deviation and will bring suffering. The ones who listen to the words of the leader will traverse this path with ease and pleasure. However, one who does not will eventually go through the path, but with absolute hardship and inconvenience before fulfilling their destiny, their journey might be called an aberration because they lost the correct path to their fate. They should be reminded of this so that they can find the path to their fate and destiny.
If there is no guidance from a spiritual leader or a prophet, the human being will eventually reach his destiny, albeit with affliction and discomfort, with going hopelessly back and forth, with chastisement from the oppression of the time, and with extreme hardships. So, the necessity of guidance by a prophet becomes clear, despite the existence of fate and destiny.
