Training the Intellectual Forces
Memorizing literature, history, geography, and other courses mainly train the memory to certain limits. However, we should not forget the fact that training the mind in a particular science nurtures the knowledge within that specific subject while reducing its expansion in other sciences. For example, if a man memorizes many poems, even though he will advance in literature, he will fall behind in mathematics and physics and chemistry. In any case, the human force will generally progress and transcend through training.
Contemplation is the best way to nurture the mind. If we accustom our children to the practice of contemplation from an early age and provide them problems to solve, their minds will nurture to the best extent that their brain functioning mandates. Some instances of brain games include chess and crossword puzzles. Such games are beneficial for nurturing the mind.
