The Pace of Advancement
However, the pace and acceleration of this advancement have not been constant. Sometimes it takes enormous leaps, and sometimes it traverses at a much slower pace. For this very reason, scholars have called eras of civilization different names, according to the significance of the factors of advancement in that era, such as the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age. Philosophers believe that the age of machines came after the Iron Age, followed by the Age of Electricity.
