Gradual Evolution of Religions

The Flowers Of Guidance Volume One Ancient Teachings and New Truths

The second notion is that religions have gradually evolved. This notion is evident and clear that it is in accord with the natural essence of the universe. Just like everything in the world is on the path towards evolution and development, religions have become perfected gradually. What is apparent is that as the Holy Quran denotes, the Prophets of God are in the same level of dignity, status and veneration for humans (“We make no distinction between any of them,” Ali ‘Imran, Verse 84). The reason is that they all provided ideal rules for their own time and strived and endeavored to carry out their service to God fully. So, we should not disregard them, and their respect should be maintained; for as the Holy Quran denotes, “they all had missions from the unequaled God.” However, this does not obviate the fact that their teachings transcended towards perfection according to evolution. The immensity and knowledgeability of the last Prophet cannot compare with his predecessors. A brief glimpse over the sacred books such as the Torah, the Bible, and the Holy Quran, and even considering the books of Hinduism, Zoroaster, Confucianism, Taoism, Brahmanism, and Buddhism vividly reveals how religions have traversed the path of advancement and evolution. This notion shows that compared to others, Islam is more advanced in terms of science, philosophy, orders, and verities.
