A Comparative Study

The Flowers Of Guidance Volume One Ancient Teachings and New Truths

It is incumbent upon a researcher and a seeker of truth to study the knowledge of the past. Be it the material science, such as the arts, or spiritual knowledge, such as philosophy, wisdom, and religion. It is one’s duty to study the customs and morals of the Prophets; he may learn from the lives of the elders and the leaders of the past.

This comparative study will have numerous advantages. For one, there are truths among these teachings that are in accord with the progression of mind and knowledge, and they seem gracious and elegant. The researcher is also responsible for accepting these principles and putting them to use. Is it not true that the Holy Quran denotes: “So give good tidings to my servants who listen to speech and follow the best of it? Those are the ones Allah has guided, and those are people of understanding.” (Az –Zumar, Verses 17 and 18).

There are so many verities that selecting, collecting, and joining them is itself an act of unity. Indeed, these are the teachings of unity, to get everything together and choose the best.
