What is the Passing of Time?
The notions of scientists and philosophers regarding time vary. Because time arises from the earth’s rotation around the sun and the progression of nights and days, and because the universe is infinite, some philosophers deny the existence of time, deeming it unreal, a fantasy.
It is, in fact, true that time arises from the earth’s rotation around the sun, and because the universe is not only infinite but also has no beginning or an end, there is no such thing as time. However, we also witness time as a flowing truth that all beings comprehend.
So how can we define time in a way that conforms to reality?
Provided is the definition for time, in a way that no one has ever defined before:
The passing of time, in truth and reality, is the evolution, progression and ascension of knowledge and stages of science, continually advancing. Had there been no progression and evolution, time would not exist. When there is no evolution, all things remain stationary. For example, if human beings were content with the inventions of ten thousand years ago, and if they remained in a state of having only prehistoric knowledge and never progressed, then there would be no time. Once time stands still, all things will remain constant; the oil lamp from a thousand years ago will remain the means for lighting.
So, the notion of time is applied only when there is progression, ascension and advancement, hence we call the advancement of knowledge, time. Think clearly to realize that time does not halt for even a moment, nor does knowledge. Advancement of science occurs every day, every hour and every second, and if scientists pay enough attention, they will realize the flow of knowledge to some extent. Even those philosophers who do not believe in time, when they consider the principle of relative evolution, they too will acknowledge that time is, in fact, the progression of knowledge.
