Chemical scientists have long been aware that when two or more chemical elements are joined, a new compound with new characteristics emerges. Scientists like Jabir ibn Hayyan (in the early days of Islam) and other Islamic scholars such as Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi and others were aware of this phenomenon. In the last two centuries, European scientists have made exceptional progress on this application.
