Deficiency of Knowledge

The Flowers Of Guidance Volume One Nine Instructive Steps to Gaining Knowledge Step 4: Light of knowledge

If there is no science of chemistry or astronomy, or if mathematics and geometry are set aside, or even if literature is wiped from Earth, this will create a deficiency in knowledge. Any knowledge that does not include one of these sciences are not referred to as comprehensive knowledge; instead, it is a piece of insufficient knowledge.  However, when there is unity in sciences, meaning that: when all sciences join in establishing unity moving according to their time, they can manifest in existence and benefit humankind and include all beings in affection and kindness.

We will now demonstrate the benefit of knowledge on plants, as an example of earthly creatures. By the advancements in natural sciences and agriculture, when novel and useful fertilizers are discovered, and new provisions are set for crossbreeding and cultivation and growth and development of plants, what is apparent is that the plants will also benefit from this progressive knowledge. Similarly, when the level of science advances through collective work in sciences, animals are likely to be included in this kindness and can live better and stronger and healthier lives through better nourishment. Therefore, knowledge serves not only humankind but also all other creatures in the world. This notion is what is called the unity of the sciences.
